Aliens (3/5)

Aliens - 3 out of 5

We get to see a minty-green guy with stripes in his hair. Too bad he’s not in more of the episode. The other aliens are humanoid, but their costumes, hair and makeup are all pretty fabulous.

YES!!! Men in gold lamé opera gloves and mini-skirts and puffy sleeves! The ambassador has puffy sleeves and his wig is wonderful.
Okay and yes, she does have some fun outfits as well.

I sure wish I could lightly squeeze a guy’s head and have him die. Okay, no I don’t.

Bechdel Test (1/3)

Bechdel - 1 out of 3

ladies don’t get to speak to one another, but Elaan gets lots of screen time. also, the actress who plays her is Vietnamese so when she is in the bridge we get to have two Asian people in the room at the same time.

Bonus Sexism: The implication that women are, by default, illogical.

Episode 69: Whom Gods Destroy

Released Jan. 3rd, 1969

Aliens (3/5)

An Orion slave girl, an Andorian and whatever the slightly piggy-face guy is supposed to be. Too bad they weren’t more of the focus of the episode.

Since there are a number of different species present in this episodes there are some great outfits…mostly involving fake fur.

Bechdel Test (1/3)

Bechdel - 1 out of 3

The Orion Slave Girl gets plenty of lines and Uhura has stuff to do on the Enterprise. But they’re never in the same room to even attempt a conversation.

Episode 70: Let That Be Your Last Battlefield

Released Jan. 10th, 1969

Bri’s Overall Rating (2/5)

Aliens ([#]/5)

Aliens - 3 out of 5

The black-and-white cookie faces are some of the most iconic aliens in Star Trek history, so I give them some extra points in spite of the fact that they’re basically humans. By the way, that black paint looks like it got extremely hot under the production lights.

Meh. The silver leotards and mock turtle necks are uninspired.

There is the white/black on black/white fighting at the end but it is pretty pathetic (especially with the ridiculous running).

Humanoid aliens with nothing special or outrageously different about them. Boring.
