Announcing a New Partnership: First Time [Film] Club

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with the National Comedy Theatre Phoenix Players to record a live podcast for their Film Time Film Club showings. Two of our Educating [Geeks] hosts will be joined by NCT’s First Timer and Super Fan for a lively discussion of the film being shown.  NCT’s First Time Film Club showings happen at various time throughout the year and will be added as First Time [Film] Club to our public calendar so you can be sure to join us for the film screenings and podcast recordings.

Meet Guest Host Phil

Philip Chang has taken a pretty typical path through the realms of science-fiction and fantasy: reading, watching, playing, listening, convention-going, and rarely writing (aeons ago, anyway). Since high school, wherever he’s lived, he’s always had at least one H.P. Lovecraft anthology on his bookshelves. He received an astonishing scholarly boost when, one day at a neighborhood used bookstore in Boston, he stumbled on the remnants of J. Vernon Shea’s library of fanzines and ephemera. Since then he’s acquired all sorts of other Lovecraftian paraphernalia, except stuff that’s (1) sickeningly cutesy or (2) laughably phony. Currently he’s a university instructor in Colorado, and is trying to figure out how to fold the Old Gentleman in with music theory.

Megan’s Best of Season 1 Episode – Star Wars: A New Hope

Wow. It’s already been an entire year of Educating [Geeks]. If I’m being totally honest, I’m shocked. I can’t tell you how proud it makes me that our little podcast of geek women has had such a successful first year. Our first year was a grand experiment and I’m so glad it worked out. Here I am picking my favorite episode out of a pool of 19 episodes! I’m being completely biased, but you should listen to all of them if you haven’t already, because there’s something for everyone in our first year lineup. But that’s not the purpose of this post. This post is to tell you my favorite episode from season 1.
