Educating [Geeks] S3 E12 – Mortal Kombat (The Movie)

The group got together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1995 movie Mortal Kombat. After listening, you can decide if it was a celebration or not. We all give the movie a letter grade, Megan has nostalgia “issues” and Goro reminds Diana of the Trolls movie. Krissy makes an insightful Harry Potter reference, Huan’s least favorite kharacter is Raiden and Alice learns about the video game. We also have some fun kasting the Mortal Kombat reboot movie.

Educating [Geeks] S3 E09 – Jurassic Park

Geek hosts Bri, Cassie, and Diana joined Megan and a room full of our favorite Phoenix Comicon 2015 attendees to record a live podcast covering the 1993 Jurassic Park. In an audience filled with dinosaur fans, there was one person who had never seen the movie before – thanks for coming! Megan talks about how much she loves Dennis Nedry, Cassie appreciates the way Alan and Ellie’s relationship is portrayed onscreen, Bri manages to reign in her love of Jeff Goldblum, Diana translates the Spanish spoken in the movie, and the audience needs no reason to love the Velociraptors.

Educating [Geeks] S3 E08 – Mad Max & The Road Warrior

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the U.S. release of Mad Max and the opening of Fury Road this summer, the hosts got together to discuss George Miller’s Mad Max and The Road Warrior.

Megan wonders if the writers of Mad Max forgot about the baby and gives one of the Road Warrior characters a new name. Alice is surprised by how much she enjoyed watching Mad Max this time around and finds herself stuck in nostalgia land again for The Road Warrior. Krissy identifies the one scene she liked in Mad Max and declares she’d like to open the post-apocalyptic emporium. She closes out the podcast with the reading of some beat poetry that cannot be missed.
